Very active in professional activities, he served as President of the Greater Washington Chapter of The American Society of Financial Services Professionals. He is a member of the National Association of Life Underwriters, and other professional organizations.

A graduate of the University of Maryland and member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, he received his Chartered Life Underwriter designation in 1976 and his Chartered Financial Consultant designation in 1980. He serves on the Board of Governors and is Treasurer of Congressional Country Club; resides in Bethesda, MD with his wife of 39 years, Tina. Their son, Jeff, graduated in 2003 from St. Joseph's University and is also a marketer at GWE, LLC; and daughter, Melissa, graduated from Bucknell University and is an executive recruiter in Washington, DC.
